Mento School
Mento School

A 4-week program consisting of co-horts of 6 youth who met weekly to discuss their emotions while sharing songs and stories associated with them.
Mento School was founded on the belief that meaningful connections require consistent exposure to the same group of people. With this philosophy in mind, we created a series of events designed to help strangers connect on a deeper level. Each week, participants explored a chosen emotion by bringing a song and a story they associated with it. The evenings were spent sharing these stories with the group and then collectively listening to the song.
The program began with lighter emotions, such as joy, before gradually delving into more intimate feelings, culminating in grief during the fourth week. By the end of the program, all six participants reported a stronger sense of community within their city. They had formed a group chat to stay connected and continue meeting outside the program, solidifying the bonds they had built and the effectiveness of our thesis.
